Research Assistant
Emilija is a PhD student with several years of research experience. Her work is focused on the role of ANKRD1 protein in different pathological conditions. She became interested in regenerative biology during her master thesis entitled “Detection of Ankrd1a protein in zebrafish (Danio rerio) heart after cryoinjury”. Since 2019, she has been investigating the potential of ANKRD1 protein as a diagnostic marker and therapeutic target of rhabdomyosarcoma, the most common soft tissue malignancy in children and adolescents. Her PhD thesis has been conducted at the Laboratory for molecular biology, IMGGE and has been focused on the role of ANKRD1 protein in the processes included in the development and progression of rhabdomyosarcoma. Apart from molecular biology, she is passionate about yoga, music and hiking.
