On December 6th, the ZEBARR team hosted the much-anticipated workshop, “Small Fish, Big Wave 2” at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE). With around 20 enthusiastic participants, this event aimed to shed light on the pivotal role of zebrafish in advancing scientific research.

The workshop offered attendees a unique opportunity to learn not only from experts within IMGGE but also from esteemed scientists from Portugal, Taiwan, and Australia. Each of these eminent speakers shared their profound insights and research discoveries, forming a diverse tapestry of expertise that provided a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted world of zebrafish research.
The day began with an enlightening lecture given by a ZEBARR team member, Dr. Jovana Jasnić. Her presentation introduced participants to the significance of zebrafish as a model organism. Subsequent lectures delved into important topics such as genetic manipulation, cancer research, and tissue regeneration, further broadening the horizons of the workshop’s participants. Our principal investigator, Dr. Snežana Kojić, presented the key finding of ZEBARR project.

After a stimulating morning session, participants recharged with a well-deserved lunch break. However, the highlight of the day awaited them in the afternoon. Following the break, attendees were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the IMGGE zebrafish facility and the center for microscopy. After this short tour, the main focus of the workshop shifted to toxicology studies.
As the event concluded, participants departed with newfound knowledge, a network of connections, and a deeper appreciation for the role of zebrafish in advancing our understanding of the biological world. “Small Fish, Big Wave 2” was a resounding success, setting the stage for future collaborations and discoveries.
